What's New in Chicagoland Traffic News?
Well, the Dan Ryan is back under construction...The Red and Brown Lines are now officially operating on reduced capacity...
The Peterson exit off of NB I-294 is closed...
The River Road Toll Plaza work goes on...
The Tollway Authority has put up "Sorry for the Inconvenience" signs...
And last but not least, baseball season has begun, creating an interesting test of who actually uses the IPASS lanes on the Kennedy! We'll see how it works... I predict major backups in the cash lanes spilling over to the IPASS lanes, eliminating the benefit of the distinction between the two. Bummer.

I have a question for you.
The GCM Travel Stats site gives suspiciously stable traffic times for the NW Tollway. I'm looking to move to Chicago with a Lincoln Park to Hoffman Estates commute. Is that unreasonable?
david-
it's not unreasonable by chicago standards. you'd probably be looking at about an hour each way, depending on how far from the highway you are. the NW tollway is kind of sporadic, especially in the summer, because cubs games can really mess things up.
i've found that going into work a little later (leaving around 8) and coming home later (leaving 6:30ish) makes things much more manageable.
Thanks. How about reverse train commuting with overnight parking at or near one of the Metra stations? Is that hoping for too much?
David,
That would be an ideal situation for an igo or zipcar, but I don't think that they're in the suburbs yet.
I'm not sure about what each station does for parking. Your best bet would be to call them up - here's a list of the stations and each one has a contact number for parking information.
